This recipe was used by my grandmother, Audrey Vellence Hale Farley (1908-2001, affectionately known as “Grandmam”) and shared with many friends and family. Grandmam was known as “Aud” or “Audrey” to her many friends, and it was one of those who called this “Aud’s High Point Pie” and that has a nice ring.
However, it is not a recipe I have ever tried, and I only vaguely recall eating it once or twice as a kid. A cursory search doesn’t reveal “High Point Pie” as a well-known term for any particular dish, so maybe this is something she came up with herself. I will reach out to the family to see what others recall about this recipe.
